1st Year

The first year of the Let's Play Music program is known as Red Balloons the 1st semester and Blue Bugs the 2nd Semester. The 1st year is perfectly geared toward 4 and 5 year olds.  I accept 4-6 year olds only as a 1st year student in my studio. This 1st year is keyboard preparation and the foundation of the Let's Play Music curriculum. During this year, we utilize the child's natural first instrument -- his voice! We also establish a musical foundation using tone bells and the autoharp. During the second semester, we learn rhythms and how to subdivide a beat using simple rhthyms. We also incorporate the tone bells to teach staff awareness and rhthym skills. This year is the foundation for creating a full musician.  The following years just expand so fully on this foundation, you will be amazed at the total musician that is created in this amazing 3 year program.

You, the parent, has an important part of your child's success in the Let's Play Music program. (Read more about it on the LPM blog here.) During class time, parent and child bond through engaging songs and games, smoothing the way for successful practice time at home. That's right, during the first year parents attend and participate in class with their child without siblings* every other week. During subsequent years, a parent attends once a month. In addition, parents help with theory homework and see that short, comfortable practice time happens each day.

By registering for the first year of Let's Play Music, it is presumed the student will complete all three years in my studio. Please read basic information about the 2nd and 3rd LPM years here on my blog AND be sure to explore the official Let's Play Music site for videos and resources!

*Young babies in infant seats are welcome to class with parents

Registration

When registering, please identify your 1st or 2nd, class time choices (or impossible) when you register. I will do my best to accommodate your first choice of class time and will contact you a few weeks before classes begin to notify you of class time.  Our Let's Play Music classes run with the normal school year August/Sept- May. Email me to request a printable registration form by email or I can get you a hard copy if that works better.. If your child is 3 this year I would suggest you register them in the Sound beginnings classes.  You will love them! If your child is 4 and you aren't quite sure about the 1st year of Let's Play Music just yet, Sound Beginnings is a great start!

Classes: Held Once a week throughout the school year, parent attends every other week, my class options for Fall 2013 are Tuesday 4 pm or Thursday 5 pm
Recital:  in May, TBA
Student Age: Beginning in the Fall of 2013, 1st Year Registration will be open to children ages 4-6 only
Class Size and Duration: 4-6 children, 45 minutes long
Tuition: $180 per semester (there are 2 Fall & Winter) OR four $45 monthly installments each semester (every 4 weeks)
Registration and Materials Fee:

$88 for entire year (includes set of Tone Bells, Home Study Notebook, Tote bag and two Home Study CDs).  *Total deposit $103 (materials fee & a $15 registration fee) *For additional siblings, fee is $24 materials- tote bag and home study books, plus the $15 registration fee. ($39 total)

Mandatory Parent Informational Meeting: The week prior to the first week of classes

Class Holidays: No class during Major Holidays, School breaks, Spring Break, Winter Break; class calendar will be distributed at Parent Meeting and includes 15 lessons per each semester.

*A Deposit of Registration and Materials Fee ($103) Reserves Your Child’s Place in Class

*Tuition Due on the First Day of Class in August.  I always offer a $10 discount for siblings registered in any of my programs.
