2nd Year

The 2nd Year is known as Green Turtle Shells and Yellow Indians. The second year of Let's Play Music is very exciting as we introduces keyboards. During this year, we transfer first year skills to playing the piano where we also learn chord notation, intervals, and harmonic improvisation. Students will need access to a piano or full size 61-key electronic keyboard at home. Success depends on daily practice through play for 2-3 minutes at the beginning, leading up to about 10-15 minutes by the end of the year. Explore more about the Let's Play Music teaching method on the Let's Play Music website. The Ideal age for second year is 6-7.

Parental involvement this second year includes attending class with your student (without siblings*) one time per month, keeping practice and lesson time fun, helping with homework as needed, sitting with your child at the piano during the first 1-2 days of each week and continuing the established daily practice routine developed during the first year of Let's Play Music. Mom and Dad's enthusiasm and encouragement for the developing musician's progress is vital. Daily practice determines the level of progress each child achieves during his or her Let's Play Music experience. Read more about how to encourage your virtuoso during practice time here.

* babies in infant seats are welcome in class
